Lee-Anne's Perspective - Tasmania Healing Retreat - February 2017

"Lee-Anne and Cory provide a gentle and nurturing space with plenty of love and laughter. Loved it!" Linda

On Friday the 17th of February 2017 I collected our 8-seater hire car and picked our first lady up who flew in from Brisbane. After taking a load of all our supplies and things to our beach house, we swang back to Hobart airport to pick up our remaining four guests. Four out of the five coming hadn't seen each other for a year since our last retreat, so it was great catching up, and also meeting and getting to know our new guest from Melbourne.

After some time unpacking and settling in, I smudged the house and then we enjoyed a drum together to connect our energies. The sound was a very strong way to begin our retreat. After some homemade soup and pasta for dinner we settled into a fun game of Mysterium, and then some card reading for ourselves. The card readings were a valuable activity we did most nights in the first five days. From my perspective I found them to be incredibly insightful and confirming for most of us during those crucial early days.

On Saturday the 18th of February, we started the day with some drumming on the beach. From there we loaded into our vehicle for the 15 minute drive to Salamanca Markets on Hobart's waterfront. Some of us found lovely Tasmanian items for our family or ourselves, and others of us laid on the grass under the big old trees at St David's Park.

We had plenty of time for more activities when we returned to Kingston Beach, so I wrote down some random words on pieces of paper and had everyone select one. There were words like - two, height, rock, express etc. After we talked about our words and how / if they made sense to us we did a guided meditation about it. This sparked some interesting conversation. So after dinner I guided a 'meet your spirit guide meditation' which had many of us connecting deeply with our spiritual guides. This prompted some drawing time as we attempted to draw our spiritual helper who appeared to us in the meditation. It was great fun and a very 'full' day.

On Sunday, day 3 was our dedicated 'sound healing day'. We enjoyed breakfast and then traveled to the historic town of Richmond. Here one of the concert bands I am in was playing and our final two songs joined by various pipe bands from Tasmania for the opening of the annual Highland Festival. It was an experience to be remembered as the bag pipes sang through the air bringing tears of joy to my eyes.

After returning to the Beach House after lunch, we set up a comfortable space for Sound Healing. Using the Chakra Chimes, Shamanic Drum and the Wind Gong we created a space of pure sound. It penetrated to the depths of our beings as we played.

To top off this incredible day of sound our good friend Teresa Drozdz graced us with some of her original meditative music to relax, meditate and heal. This day was one of our group's favourite - it was 'full', touching and very healing.

Monday the 20th of February was our 'releasing day'. We spent the morning writing down everything we wanted to release and surrender from our life and within ourselves. Moving into a space of silence, we traveled about 40 minutes to Risdon Park to undertake our releasing activity. We created a path of release and healing, which led directly to a contained fire that Cory (my husband) had created for us. We started our walk under a beautiful tree, and walked individually, taking our time and supporting each other as we did it. It was a powerful time of healing.

We drummed together, celebrated and enjoyed connecting with nature, ourselves and together as group. Special moments of connection were made on this day.

We still had loads of time to play with when we returned, so we had a game of Dixit and did an Om Mani Padme Hum Meditation. This prompted deep conversation as we stayed up quite late talking about past lives, the soul, chakras, aura, spirits and all things similar. Another full and healing day was enjoyed.
Tuesday morning was time for Cory and I to get a few more supplies from home, feed the cat, mail out and do a shopping trip. Upon return I made some scones for lunch, and then we talked a lot about the aura and chakras in our 'aura and chakra drawing and healing' day.

Wednesday the 22nd of February was day 6 and this was our designated 'Shamanic Healing Day. We started with some group smudging and used the rattles to shake our energy up. Then I guided everyone on a Shamanic Drumming Journey to meet one or more of their Power Animals.

After sharing about our experience we took our drums and journeyed to the base of Mount Wellington to do the O'Grady's Falls nature walk. What a time we had noticing the insects, birds and animals on the way... and then imagining the cleansing waters from the waterfall further cleansing our being.

We then enjoyed some drumming at 'The Springs' - further up Mount Wellington. The view was spectacular!

This was a fantastic day enjoying some of what Mount Wellington and Tasmanian nature had to offer. We made ever-lasting connections with our Power Animals and learned a lot about ourselves.

Thursday was when reality hit that it was our final full day! We had packing to do, however everyone enjoyed some one-on-one sound healing with Cory. After that most of us braved the 16*C Summer waters of Tasmania for a dip. It took a little bit to acclimatize to the temperature, and then we enjoyed the refreshing swim.

One of our guests made a lovely cheesecake for our final night as we talked about what's next and how we can create a doable plan when we get home to implement the changes we'd been talking about. We finished the day and retreat with a fun game of Dixit.

Friday was our return back to reality, as everyone flew home and Cory and I settled back into our home too.

From my perspective this was a very healing, informative and 'full' retreat. Our new venue location was perfect and ideal. Everyone seemed very comfortable early on, which is always a great sign for me. Everyone was also very willing to face their fear and own issues as we talked openly and I offered them ways to investigate these and find a solution themselves. We talked a lot about various tools and things to use at home to help enrich their life. I LOVED this retreat and the people who chose to be with us. It's these sorts of experiences and events which bring me so much joy and gratitude for doing the work I do.

Thanks everyone for your role and energy - you have been an integral part of making this retreat what it was. Everlasting friendships and memories created!
